About Sue Jones

Sue is an experienced aquatic ecologist based in Brisbane, Queensland, who has been working in the field since 2002. In 2006, she established Stream Macroinvertebrate Identifications (SMI) to provide a cost-effective laboratory service for processing aquatic macroinvertebrate samples for a diverse range of clients.

Sue has consistently delivered impeccable service to her clients, which include various environmental consultancies and government agencies, processing samples from across Eastern Australia. She is AUSRIVAS accredited in field collection, laboratory identifications, and modeling, with her identification accuracy validated by her peers, including the expert staff at the Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Science division of the Queensland Department of Environment and Science.

Since then, Sue has expanded her expertise to include field data collection related to water quality, habitat assessment, turtles, and aquatic vegetation. She is eager to adopt new techniques and can assist with any aspect of an aquatic project. Her experience spans a wide variety of projects throughout Queensland, particularly in the mining, monitoring, and infrastructure sectors.
